DESCRIPTION: The postdoctoral researcher in this position will be responsible for developing mathematical models and computational algorithms to analyze bio-molecular sequences and structures. Work will include establishing mathematical models; performing simulations and data analysis and interpreting their results; programming on UNIX-based (Solaris, IRIX, and IBM AIX) computers, including parallel and distributed systems; developing and maintaining web pages; literature search, presentation of research findings, writing technical reports and research papers for publication.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A Ph.D. in an appropriate area of mathematical, computational, biological or physical sciences is required. Strong programming skills in C/C++, familiarity with the UNIX operating system and MATLAB, R; SPLUS are essential. (This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
